Anna Joy Gordon is a Melbourne based freelance saxophonist (alto/baritone) and composer. To date, she has lent her considerable skills as both a composer and performer to a range of projects including indie genre hoppers Mangelwurzel and globe-trotting world music outfit The Barons of Tang. During her time with the Barons Anna performed at a host of Australian and international festivals including Roskilde, Sziget, and WOMAD, as well as co-writing and performing on their ARIA nominated album Into The Mouths Of Hungry Giants. Anna also wowed crowds at Falls Festival after Mangelwurzel took home Triple J’s annual Unearthed competition in 2015.
Since stepping back from the relentless touring schedule she maintained for years, Anna now performs with and writes for a number of Melbourne acts including Ogopogo, Hot Sludge Fundae, Chaos Magnet, as well as her own project, Sludge Party. She is sought after as a sectional player where she brings her unique writing and irrepressible energy to a variety of projects across a broad stylistic spectrum.
